WHEN THE OVATION IS LOUDEST

Written By: Lizzy Oyebola Oyekunle.

I was at a friend’s wedding in July when I heard a tale.

According to my friend, there was a wedding the month before in their church and something bad was averted by God after the conjugation.

She said as the couple was about entering the fine jeep that should take them to the reception hall, one of the pastors stopped them suddenly.

“Whose car is this?” The pastor asked.

“My best friend’s” The groom replied.

And yes, the groom’s friend, (Let me call him Charles) came out of the driver’s corner to meet the pastor.

“Its my car” He said. Then the pastor looked into his face intently just then.

“What has your friend done to you? And what has his new bride done as well?” The Pastor asked and there was silence.

“What do you mean? I mean… We are late for the reception please. Bride and groom, enter the car” Charles said, his eyes already reddening.

“You aren’t entering that car!” The pastor said firmly. Everyone was amazed.

“Where is the car that brought the bride?” The pastor asked again.

“Over there sir” The bride replied.

“You are both going with that to the reception” The pastor said and Charles banged the body of the car.

“They are following this car! Do you know how much I sacrificed so I could make my car available for them?” He was furious.

“Do you have any other reason why you want them to go in your car mister?” The pastor paused.

“Friend, let’s go! I don’t know what this old chap is talking about!” Charles said and was about pulling the groom when the pastor raised his right hand.

“Except the Holy Spirit lies! Except I have not heard correctly! Prayer band, search his car!” The pastor ordered and some ushers ran towards the car.

“You are not searching my car! You will not search that car!” Charles shouted and locked the car with the automated car key he was holding.

“Ore, let them open and search. Please” The groom pleaded with him.

“You don’t trust me? You don’t?” Charles asked in a defensive raised voice.

“Of course I do. That’s the more reason why you should let them search the car my guy” The groom said.

Charles raised his hands in total surrender as he walked towards his car.

“You people shouldn’t worry. I will leave. Its my fault for coming in the first place. When the good you want to do turns to evil ehn! I will leave” He said but the pastor stopped him in his tracks.

“You will leave but not until we have searched!” The pastor said with a finality.

Eventually, to save his face, the car was opened!

Some prayerful ushers ran towards the car and searched.

Alas, under the foot mats of the chairs meant for the groom and bride laid some horrible looking charms.

“Hey, Charles, what…” The groom was about confronting him when he suddenly opened the front door and jumped into his car.

He reversed so quickly that everyone had to jump from its rear as fast as they could so they won’t be crushed.

To cut the long story short, he sped off!

The story is so real. I only wrote it in my own words.

Did you gain a thing or two?

Not everyone that comes to your birthday wishes you a happy birthday!

The days of your celebration aren’t the days for letting off your guards!

If you’d been watchful for 100% before your celebration, be more vigilant up to like a thousand percent on the day you are being celebrated!

We don’t know why Charles did what he did but can you imagine what would have happened if the new couple had entered that car?

That’s why we see videos where the brides suddenly go crazy on their big days! Going so crazy, she removes her attires and accessories! We see a lot on the internet!

We wrestle not against flesh and blood but against principalities, against powers, against rulers of darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places!!!

The Bible says the heart of man is desperately wicked, who can know it?

No one!

Except the person with eyes attuned to God’s- Spiritual eyes!

If the pastor was as blind as everyone else around, what would have been the fate of the newly married?

Ask God each day to sharpen your spiritual eyes and you will be surprised at the wickedness of this world!- even of those who hug you and call you ‘best friend’.

Of course this world is not ours, we are just passing through!

Brethren, be guided and guarded!

Safety is only in Christ Jesus!

Another thing, God loves us. He doesn’t want anything bad to happen to us. The couple had probably said some hot prayers before that day. And God heard!

Pray without ceasing! Pray before your ceremony, during your ceremony, after your ceremony.

During my undergraduate days, a popular Christian drama minister and his team came to show us a movie written by one of his sons. I was seated right behind the couple as the play unfolded.

As some terrible things started unfolding and some unfounded curses were being placed on the son, the woman, notwithstanding that it was a movie was praying!- I mean, her eyes were wide open while her mouth was moving quietly but prayerfully!

I don’t know her prayer point but asides the fact that the movie should bless lives, she was probably seated the there doing some spiritual battles!

Prayer is the key!

In all your getting, get spiritual eyes!

No secret of the enemies will then be hidden in our lives!

When the ovation is louder, your oration to God should be much loudest!
